The First Yaoguai to Defeat Wukong - Yellow Wind Sage
Yellow Wind Sage (also known as Yellow Wind Guai or Yellow Wind King) was originally a weasel who attained enlightenment at the foot of Mount Lingshan. He was captured by Lingji Bodhisattva using the Wind Tamer (a magical pill given by the Buddha) after stealing pure oil from a glass lamp. However, the Buddha forgave him and allowed him to retreat into the wilderness.

Wukong dragged the corpse of Tiger Vanguard back to Yellow Wind Cave to challenge the demon. Upon hearing that Tiger Vanguard had been killed, Yellow Wind Sage became furious. "That monkey has gone too far! I didn't harm his master, yet he killed my vanguard," he fumed. Grabbing his weapon, he went to confront Wukong at the entrance of the cave.
Seeing Wukong for the first time, Yellow Wind Sage mocked his small stature. Wukong laughed and said, "You lack judgment. Hit me on the head, and I'll grow three feet taller." Intrigued, Yellow Wind Sage agreed to try. True to Wukong's word, he grew larger with each strike until Yellow Wind Sage could no longer reach his head. "Enough with the tricks. Let's test our real skills," said Yellow Wind Sage, lunging at Wukong with his weapon. Thus, the battle began. After over thirty rounds of fighting, neither Wukong nor Yellow Wind Sage could gain the upper hand.
Using His Ultimate Skill to Defeat Wukong
Anxious to rescue his master, Wukong plucked a handful of his own hairs and transformed them into hundreds of clones, surrounding Yellow Wind Sage. He then flew towards the cave. Alarmed, Yellow Wind Sage used his ultimate skill: he blew a gust of yellow wind, dispersing all the Wukong clones.
Wukong was shocked by the powerful wind, the likes of which he had never encountered before. He turned back to continue the fight, but Yellow Wind Sage blew another gust of yellow wind directly into Wukong's eyes. His eyes burned painfully, rendering him blind. Helpless, Wukong stumbled around until Zhu Bajie came to his rescue.
A Natural Enemy
Wukong had Bajie lead him to a nearby house at the foot of the mountain, planning to rest until his eyes healed before attempting to rescue his master again. By fortune or fate, the household had a miraculous medicine that cured Wukong's eyes. The next day, Wukong visited various gods and Buddhas, eventually learning that Yellow Wind Sage feared Lingji Bodhisattva's Wind Tamer. Wukong went straight to seek Lingji Bodhisattva's help.
In the end, Lingji Bodhisattva accompanied Wukong to subdue Yellow Wind Sage and took him back to Mount Sumeru.
